BIENNALE VENEZIA
The 19th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice will take place from Saturday 10 May to Sunday 23 November 2025, curated by architect and engineer Carlo Ratti. An event full of exhibitions and events throughout the city
The Venice Biennale was founded in 1895 and is considered one of the most famous and prestigious cultural institutions in the world. It is chaired by Pietrangelo Buttafuoco. At the forefront of research and promotion of new contemporary artistic trends, the Biennale organizes exhibition and research activities in all its Sectors - Art (since 1895), Architecture (since 1980), Cinema (since 1932), Dance (since 1999) Music (since 1930), Theatre (since 1934). Its history is documented at the Historical Archive of Contemporary Arts (Asac) recently completely renovated. Since 1998 (the first year of Paolo Baratta's presidency), the Art and Architecture Biennials are no longer just exhibitions organized by national pavilions, but are definitively founded on three pillars:
- the exhibition by national pavilions, each with its own curator and project
- the international exhibition of the curator of the Biennial, appointed with this specific task
- the collateral events, approved by the curator of the Biennial This exhibition model has given rise to a singular plurality of voices, to realize which the exhibition spaces have been expanded - for strategic necessity - with an important restoration of the Arsenale still underway.
